New Cover for The Gate

So Rob and I are putting together The Gate(a short story collection we have) with new illustrations and a new cover. It's one of the first man-made environments I've worked on in such a long time and it caused me a few headaches, which is funny since it's only 1-point perspective. I used some tricks I'd learned from some of the fine tutorials put out by Massive Black and although it felt awkward at first I know it'll only get easier as I utilize them more.

So here is a truncated view of the progression. I still have a ways to go as far as rendering is concerned, and may end up revamping the figure entirely, but so far I'm having fun with it.

Almost there.

Here's the mostly finished image. Still have a ways to go, but it's going well. Rendering everything out is taking a bit longer than I'd like but it's all good. I keep reminding myself, patience patience patience...

CT Cut Out: W.I.P.

Working on the final for the Conquest Tactics cutout. Figured I'd put up the W.I.P. I'm working about 60% of this in watercolors and the rest in Photoshop. I'm real tired of the way Photoshop feels as I work but I love some aspects of it so I decided to get back to basics a bit and do the majority of the work traditionally. Fun.

Conquest Tactics.

I'm working on a cutout for the guys at Conquest Tactics. These are the first two roughs for the Kabhora who will be an 8'x 4' monstrosity. Looking forward to seeing how this ends up. Since they want him to be useful for people taking photos we are going with a straightforward approach similar to the first image, but with legs spread in waiting stance.

Fun stuff, fun guys to work for.
